Ives Schlage 230B15 Sliding Door Review

This product is easy to install with a little knowledge and technical ability. There are no templates or instructions included. The edges and overall finish leave a lot to be desired. I'm sure it will be a worthwhile and functional piece once installed and a little tinkering with the mounting hole.

I bought this for a new sliding door we installed during a bathroom renovation. I bought this as another brand's review said the part you pull doesn't have a spring return to close. It definitely has a spring throwback that should last a long time. All traction is definitely well done. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 as the rod and screws were just in a plastic bag. I bought this for my folding door. Very good quality product. Even the screws are stainless steel. As shown in the attached picture, the item will not fit a 1 3/8" thick door. I think this should be installed on the side of the door, not the front of the door. Another issue is that of the actual handle is so small that it was not possible to fit the spring mechanism on the back without interfering with the ability to indent the product from the top.I had to pull the chisel out to get it to fit…

Functional and correct color (Brushed Nickel). The problem is that it feels rough and flimsy. I had problems with the internal spring and it didn't fully retract. I had to tweak the spring a bit to make the lever retract safely on one of them. (I ordered and installed three.) I highly recommend ordering a Baldwin brass/brush sliding door edge handle if you want a much better door edge handle, especially if you use the handle on a daily basis. This handle has a nice brass weight. It took me almost an hour to carve the door frame to fit. I recommend sharp chisels, a slow pace, and lots of patience. I took my time and the hole turned out great. Be patient with screws. They are number 6 and must be hand carved during a lengthy customization process. The instructions didn't help much.
