Got pros: Pleasant signature JBL sound, juicy, elastic, and at a large one it plays quite loudly, you can organize a mini-disco in nature. Got cons: stereo speakers of this size have less frequency coverage, so it both basses and squeaks well, but alas, mono.

I love this speaker! I love the Charge 4 and the Charge 5 is even better! The sound quality is excellent. It's the perfect size, light weight, well made and everything I wanted in a portable Bluetooth speaker!

Just got charge 5 and it's amazing. So far it has exceeded all expectations. Before purchasing, I watched many video reviews and settled on the Charge 5 that fits my needs. The Flip would have worked, but the size of the battery and the ability to charge other devices multiple times helped decide on this model.

Was hoping the JBL5 battery could last all day as advertised but after 2 attempts with 2 different JBL5s the battery only lasted 4 hours at the beach. The sound quality is much better than the JBL4, but if it can't play music all day as it claims, it's worth looking elsewhere.

I used to have a Charge 3 but was having battery issues so decided to upgrade. I've seen a lot of videos saying the sound was similar to previous generations. I absolutely disagree that this Charge 5 is an amazing speaker and the bass is ridiculous for its size. I can fill my whole house with music from just this speaker, believe me this JBL did the right thing.

I received this speaker about 15 minutes ago. Plugged in and started listening. It was very easy to connect. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing. At 50% leverage, the bass is out of your hearing range due to distortion. Above 35-40%, the high frequencies sound like they're coming from a blown speaker. So incredibly disappointed. In comparison, my JBL Clip 2 sounds louder without distortion.

Updated from Charge 3 just because I'm a dirty consumer who loves the latest toys and I can say there's definitely an improvement in sound quality ! JBL is still my customer of portable speakers and almost all of my friends also own jbl products. They are built to last and sound great. Unless you're a big audiophile you're probably better off buying a Charge 3 or Charge 4 to save money, but I'll say I can tell a difference in sound quality.
