I recommend using less water than indicated to start with, it seemed a bit runny so we chose not to remove the old mortar from the loose bricks on the landscape wall but instead used it as a to use glue. on the old mortar. I made two mosaic tables out of cut DVDs and used this grout in between. This is a very fine powder and if you don't get the right consistency it will either be too sticky or too lumpy to work with. With a little elbow exertion, it separated easily from the pieces of the mosaic. The little bucket actually covered the coffee table and round picnic table surfaces with very little room for patches or a second coat.
