Defective Shaft Caps - Boat

The caps holding the reel to the shaft came loose when I was loading the boat. I had to drill through each shaft and use cotter pins to hold the reel. Not a good design.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Some bugs

I bought three of these and the plugs for two.

I bought three of these and two have already had their connectors fall off. I'm just lucky I didn't lose the videos. I drilled through each end of the shaft and inserted a cotter pin to attach it to the pulley.

Pros
  • Inspires Confidence
Cons
  • Tape

Well built and strong.

I installed this on my trailer a long time ago. It withstands bad weather and loads / lowers the boat perfectly. It's not quite what I wanted, the mount is a little big for my application but that was all that was available. He's doing his job.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Protection

The end caps are coming off the rails and rollers

As mentioned, one of the end caps has been removed. I tried pinching it but it didn't work so I drilled a small hole in the shaft and put in a stainless steel cotter pin. Everything works great now, but end cap quality control is obviously a big issue. The rest of the video is of good quality.

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • Can't remember

Missing Sporting Parts

With all the bad reviews of drip caps, you'd think the company would step up quality assurance. I ordered 5 and 8 inches. The 5" looks good, but the 8" only has one end cap. Not even a hat fell off. I just miss everything together. How can anyone even put it in a box knowing it's missing parts? Unbelievable.

Pros
  • Pretty Packaging
Cons
  • Functionality

Like others who have bought them before me

As with others who have bought before me, one of the caps on the support bar has been removed in the box. I reinstalled it but with a simple hand squeeze it fell off. I decided to remove the two retaining caps, drill through the stock and insert cotter pins. I'm glad it failed before I installed it on the trailer, I would have lost the roller somewhere on the road.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
