Description of πŸ”‘ Ferrous Keychain Magnet Test for Improved Hanging

Ideal for metal recyclers, brokers, antique buyers, collectors, or anyone that needs a convenient, easy-to-carry magnet to test for iron, nickel, or cobalt content. Identify fake/plated jewelry, which often has steel or nickel alloys as the base material (some alloys, like nickel-silver and German silver are non-magnetic, despite having ferrous metals present). Generally, the magnet test is only the first test performed, before density and acid testing. Identify/sort chrome plated items from polished aluminum, silver, and non-magnetic grades of stainless steel (chrome plating requires a nickel layer, which is magnetic). Identify and sort solid brass and bronze from steel-plated items (handy in the antique market and hardware store). Features a durable neodymium magnet housed in a metal shell, it holds over 2.5 pounds. Dimensions: 0.47 inches wide at its widest point x 1.57 inches long (12 x 40 mm).

Great Product - Material Handling Products

I wish I had bought a stronger magnet. I use this to separate magnetic material from mineral samples in sand and pebbles. It does a decent job, but I wish it was a little stronger.

Pros
  • Has a powerful neodymium magnet in a metal case and can hold over 2.5 lbs. Dimensions: 0.47" wide at widest point x 1.57" long (12 x 40mm)
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Large Grab Magnet

Excellent product makes picking up metal objects off the floor easier. Useful when it's hard to reach or grab. Hang it on your keychain so it's always handy. I don't know why I didn't get it sooner.

Pros
  • Identifies/sorts chrome plated items in polished aluminium, silver and non-magnetic stainless steel (chrome plating requires a layer of nickel which is magnetic).
Cons
  • Doubtful

Mighty Magnet! for Industrial Magnets

This is the perfect little magnet. It is so strong that I call it "my strong magnet". Too bad it's not cute and colorful. I've just received the second one I bought and I like it a lot but I still think they should be in nice colors. πŸ€—

Pros
  • Identify counterfeit/plated jewelry, often made from steel or nickel alloys as the base material (some alloys such as nickel silver and cupro-nickel are non-magnetic despite the presence of ferrous metals). Typically, the magnet test is only the first test performed before the density and acid tests.
Cons
  • Not sure
