Short-lived item for cutting tools

I bought this step attachment for my husband for his birthday after hearing him talk about how he needed this attachment for his work. He didn't use it for weeks until a co-worker asked if he had a step drill to drill a 7/8 hole in the side of the electrical box. Excitedly, he offered his colleague his new small nozzle. The drill broke the shank right before his eyes when the hole was half-drilled. I don't know if it was a bad stair crown or just a bad small product, although my husband was…

Pros
  • Clearly visible silver targets for basic hole sizes
Cons
  • Some little things

Good but not good for me

Took a chance on this step hoping it will last longer than port freighters. I've also used Irwin step bits with pitch in the past. The problem is that they make about 4-6 holes and are blunt at 3/4" and 13/16". I made 5 holes in 1/8" mild steel and shot through with cutting oil every time I used it. Everything else cuts great, looks good and the price would be good if it weren't for a common problem pointed out I bump when I use it. Any other brand except Champion pretty much. Or a good load…

Pros
  • 3 hole sizes
Cons
  • High price

WOW! WOW! WOW! - Step drill

This is by far the best drill bit I have ever used. I had to drill a hole in a stainless steel sink. I installed a filtered water faucet. I'd heard there were hardening issues when drilling stainless steel, so I was nervous. I watched a few videos on You Tube and most of them used a step drill. After reading the reviews of the Klein Tools KTSB14 step drill, I decided to buy it. To keep the stainless steel cool, I placed ice cubes around where I wanted to drill the hole. I submerged the Klein…

Pros
  • Fast action non-running drill bit
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something
