Works but add silicone or liquid gasket

What I understand from people who run my particular mower is that the engine is the gasket is fine. To prevent further leaks or whatever, if you have to remove the cap you'll need to use liquid sealant as well. I had an affair with some silicone pad manufacturer. Thanks to Taryl Dactyl on Youtube for suggesting this.

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Thicker OEM Gasket is best for Gaskets

OEM Gasket much thicker than original. The biggest problem is that the valve cover itself is as thin as a beer can. Just make sure the surface is flat, a small ball point hammer on a flat surface will smooth out the edge of the valve cover. And all you have to do is gently tighten the screws. If you "gorillan" the screws, you will certainly crush and split the gasket, and the leak will appear again.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Doubtful

Get a tube of Permatex "Right Stuff "

Perfect fit but I used a liberal amount of Permatex "Right Stuff" around the lip of the valve cover to seal the to hold the gasket in place and seal the fit. Furnished. no leaks. good to go I have found that one of the tappets on the Kohler 19 is sticking due to a loose nut after the valve cover gasket was removed. Also ordered and replaced. Motor is 10 years old and works great.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Those factory pads are terrible. They tend to sink.

These factory pads are terrible. They are prone to jamming (popping out even at the recommended torque) on the underside of the intake port. I wish there were more options than cork, luckily the manufacturer of the black silicone gasket helped me out by spending money on this OEM crap. Don't waste your money, this gasket is a design flaw. Damn bad design.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Expensive

Pure waste of time and money!

This part is defective. After installing this part, the valve cover leaked more. This cork seal will tear and leak oil again. Kohler now recommends using caulk for this repair. In order for the sealant to work, you MUST wait the required time for the sealant to set. The sealant I used says 24 hours, I waited 72 hours to make sure it didn't leak again. After using the sealant, it stops flowing. Happy Happy Happy!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not all will fit

Fixed exhaust oil leak. Ouch!

It works well according to advertised specs, but don't expect it to work wonders if your cover isn't flat. I inherited a Husqvarna mower and it smoked quite badly. Oil turned out to be pouring from the valve cover straight onto the hot exhaust pipe (no flame thankfully). The previous owner tried to twist the last gasket hard to stop the leak, destroying it and also warping the cap a bit. The new gasket wasn't thick enough to accommodate the slight warping of the old cover (it wasn't very bowed,

Pros
  • Dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Some flaws
