Disappointed - Tires fell off

My use is perhaps a little different than most: I have a half mile uphill climb that is almost impossible to climb in the winter without chains - even with 4WD. These chains went very easily, but after the wheels spun on the way up the hill, they both flew off the tires. Maybe the Thule website told me I got the wrong size? I returned them and went back to Thule CS-10 chains, which have worked very well for me in the past and are still quite quick and easy to engage and disengage.

Pros
  • Not off-road.
Cons
  • Obsolete model

With these snow chains I can drive on icy hills.

My first set of Thule CU-9 snow chains lasted just over two winters with occasional use. I'm on my 2nd set of the 2nd winter now on the same car. I like these snow chains because they are quick to put on and quick to take off. However, fitting these chains can be difficult when the tires are loaded with snow and the snow is deep. You must clear the snow around the tires and the snow from the front and both sides of each tire underneath. Removing the chains without damaging them can be very…

Pros
  • Certificates: Ö-Norm 5117, UNI 11313, TÜV.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for elderly

Before buying these chains I was scared to death of driving in the snow. We live on a very steep street and when the ice came it was a nightmare. There was no way or how for me to climb that hill. I searched and searched for necklaces that I could make myself. I decided to bite the bullet and pay a lot of money. After watching a few YouTube videos…
