You will need a Kreg tool to use the screws

I used this product before building my first mahogany deck. I used them again with my second deck. I would not use any other tool or screws. The tool allows the screws to penetrate the floorboards at an angle rather than from above. You can't see the screws in the deck. The best!

Pros
  • Recommended for ACQ treated wood
Cons
  • Very expensive

Endurance test - screws rusted and broken after six years

Deck screws are designed to perform in harsh weather conditions. The marketing states that Protec-Kote "protects against corrosion in a wide range of decking applications". However, this is not the case. Upon removing the rotten board, half of the screws were either badly corroded or broken when trying to remove them. Next time I'll probably go with camo.

Pros
  • 100 screws
Cons
  • Available in black only

Coated quality screw

I wanted to write a review here as some people seem to be misinformed. These are plated screws and as with any plated screw, the plating will wear off a little as you drive it in. That is the nature of the animal. If that bothers you, use the SS versions. I myself use these coated screws on my deck when drilling through the top of the board and use SS screws when I can use a jig and go through the side. There is no difference in the performance of this screw over the stainless steel version in…

Pros
  • Pan head secures, won't chip work piece
Cons
  • No instructions
