We bought a new house that we used to rent and it turned out that every door had its own key. We called the local locksmith and they offered us $20-$25 per lock to rekey them all to the same key. We had such a lock on 3 houses and other types of quicksets on more. These are good locks that work very well. Smart key technology works well when others have previously set it up for me. So I decided to install 4 sets of these locks and deadbolts on 4 doors in my son's house. I was able to get 50% of the 6 locks/bolts I tried to remake to work. What I really like is that it goes with all other locks. A potential burglar will never know. He/she can try to gain entry but fails. I also like that I didn't have to make new keys. 20 seconds and they will be reinstalled on our existing key. They were simple replacements for the original set. No change was required. Ironically our final lock was a Kwikset so sizing was not an issue during installation. The set we replaced was probably original for the house or at least over 10 years old. It was definitely showing its age and the latch no longer worked (which suggests why we replaced it!). This new set was pretty easy to install. The kit does not include a special tool to reverse the cylinder. So you need to order a free tool if you want the keyway to be on the top right of the left door. (The instructions for the kit say it's ok if it's upside down. Maybe they're ok, but not mine!) The tool looks very cheap, should come with it! Update 7/25/19: Ok after using graphite spray and keep reinstalling the phone after spraying it - about 5 times, the phone locks and unlocks now smoothly and easily. The bolt clicked perfectly the first time and didn't need greasing. I have to say that Kwikset's customer service is excellent in that they will send you replacement parts when needed.
