Pretty good in the kitchen and dining room

The blade is very sharp and cuts well. But the adjustable blade doesn't make the mentioned cuts and slips too easily. If the thickness is not so important, then everything is fine. I'm keeping it, but if I were to buy it again I wouldn't spend the extra money on an adjustable blade.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • Sad tool

Great slicer for mandolins & slicers

I mainly use it for thin cucumber slices. I love that there aren't 3 options to adjust thickness. I also use it for thinly sliced potatoes and for cooking potato clams. This significantly shortens the preparation time. Be careful, use the finger guard, it's very sharp! It is very easy to clean under hot water.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Fits

Had to return: mandolins and planes

The product was defective. The adjustment rod is used to adjust the cutting thickness to 1, 2 or 3 mm. I have used Kyocera slicers in the past and found setting 3 to be perfect. The device I received didn't set the thickness correctly and using cucumber slices varied from transparent to almost transparent down to 1mm - too thin. However, it may be a defective device. I sent it back and asked for a replacement, we'll see.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Annoys me

Non-Adjustable: Kitchen Utensils and Gadgets

This carving knife is very sharp but can only cut very thin slices. There are no instructions for changing the slice thickness. There's a rotating rectangular thing at the bottom, but it's not obvious how that affects thickness. Luckily I bought it to make thin slices in bulk and I don't need thickness control at all so I'm fine with that. It's not very adjustable from what I understand, but it gets the job done. Don't pay too much for an "adjustable" model.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Senior Citizen

How to ruin a good product

First Kyocera's $40 wide slicer and $24. are you identical? The "cheaper" has the same handguard as the narrower Kyocera Slicer. It is designed to be stabilized by tabs that hold the handguard in place on the slicer. The $40 handguard (black! Wow!) doesn't have that option, and there's no way to stabilize it while slicing on the slicer. Unfortunately I threw away the whole package thinking it was the wide, "broad" one, otherwise I would have sent it back immediately.

Pros
  • Many will
Cons
  • Some difficulties
