Self-sharpening is not possible

The manufacturer is silent about the fact that knife blades cannot be sharpened yourself. You must send them to the manufacturer for resharpening.

The knives are sharp but the handle is light and narrow

These knives come in a nice presentation box and are quite sharp. We have been using ceramics for many years and we really like the micro notches. But the handles are light (each knife weighs 28 grams) and thin - they look like a handle. I think we'll get used to it as the knife is really only for casual use while eating.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

like a feather - Kitchen & Dining

Contrary to the previous 28 reviews (27 almost 2 years ago) from people who received the product for free, I bought this one. On the plus side, they are very sharp. If they hold up as well as my other Kyocera knives, they'll stay sharp for years. I love that they can be washed in the dishwasher (top shelf). They also fit into the steak knife slots in my knife block. The downsides are that they look cheap, especially next to regular knives. They also seem cheap, but most ceramic knives feel less

Light, very sharp steak knives

I have used these several times since receiving them and am always amazed at how sharp they are and how well they cut. The blades are very thin and the handles are smooth and neat and offer a good grip. They are particularly easy to care for. I've worked with ceramic knives in the past and have generally been happy with their performance, but in every case I've managed to break the blades. They look very fragile and I'm worried that jumping or slipping could break the blade. You must be very…

My favorite knives are now twice as sharp

I've been a big fan of Kyocera ceramic kitchen knives for a number of years. They are amazingly sharp and meet almost all of my cooking needs, except for any task that requires torque to be applied to the knife. For these tasks, I also have (and recommend) JA Henckel's Soligen stainless steel knife (also bought from Revain). Tomatoes. My Kyocera knives always get the job done quickly and easily. My steel knives too when fresh and properly sharpened, but that's an extra job that Kyoceras never…

It was a pleasant surprise.

I'm a fan of stainless steel knives, which I sharpen regularly and re-sharpen from time to time. I have never used ceramic knives because of their fragility and high cost. Ceramic knives will break if you drop them on a hard surface because they are made out of "ceramic". And since I occasionally knock a knife off my staging area, I've never considered them a worthy substitute for metal knives. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of these knives. Although they…
