Large Kayak J Rack Car Cradle Review

The Large Kayak J Rack Car Cradle was a waste of my money. According to my experience, this product was poorly designed and had weak straps. The straps couldn't even hold the kayak securely during my short drive to the lake. The instructions provided were difficult to follow and the installation process took much longer compared to other automotive accessories I have purchased. J-Pillars are easy to fit and work as advertised. The BIG issue I had was the black straps that come with the kit: they don't hold on/lose traction with the kayak and the only thing that saved us from total disaster were the blue ropes, which also came with the kit. I highly recommend customers to purchase their own ratchet straps from a major hardware store and avoid irritation and danger!

The struts I received look like "Universal J-Stands" not the "big ones" as pictured. (I don't have the plastic strap holder pictured at the end of the "J" and the portion of the clip that is visible in the picture is different from what I received.) My kayak didn't fit so I ordered larger frames. It will not fit the 2013 Ford Escape roof rack. The screws were too long and chipped the paint on the car. Even with the shorter screws, it was still difficult to attach the posts.
