Hub 3.0 is a waste of money

This sensor is fine, but the required hub (v3) is defective. The hub cannot communicate with WiFi. Even when the hub is next to my WiFi router, it loses signal every 7-10 days and stays offline until I manually reset it. That means I have no cover around the leaks until then. A complete waste of money. Contacted support via email and received no response. DO NOT BUY

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Some small things

Expensive but works.

I had to purchase 12 additional water detection sensors for my needs so the system cost over 1000.00. The system was purchased for a new 3 story cabin style cabin in New Zealand for rent so I had no choice but to protect it from water damage it is all wood. The system was fairly easy to install, but needed to be convenient enough to cut and reconnect the plumbing. The water sensors could easily be programmed via the app.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Reliable, works great with a wink, battery life can be a bit short

I have about 8 of them, in 2 houses; they reliably detect water. The batteries are three AAA and seem to run out a bit quickly in say 6 months. You are strong. Less weak than the Dome, but the Dome has a coil extension and possibly a longer-lasting CR2 battery. Some range issues but better than dome for range. I think I have a Gen 2 Leaksmart - not sure!. and the Gen 2 has better battery life than the Gen 1. The only major caveat is that they're expensive. Soon all of this will be connected toโ€ฆ

Reliable water and temperature sensor

I have been using these sensors for several years now. I think they work great as long as you make sure the battery isn't dead. I also had a Leaksmart valve in my last apartment. It's not in my new house yet. Now I have three. They are located next to my kettle, dishwasher and washing machine. Since I don't have Valve, I set up some notifications in Wink. Any sensor that detects water will turn all my smart RGBW bulbs red and send me text messages. That works great. I recommend testing theโ€ฆ

Smart Installation Best in Home Sensors and Alarms

First, I'll tell you about dislike. I am using Samsung Smartthings (Android phone) for installation and automation. There is almost no documentation for installing with Smartthings. Before installing, you need to add the Samsung Smartthings Home Monitor app in Smartthings (again, no documentation). If you have already installed LeakSmart by other means, you will need to perform a factory reset. Ask LeakSmart how to do it. I have six LeakSmart devices installed in my home. The beep thatโ€ฆ

Complete failure! - Household sensors and alarms

FAILED! Bought to alert us to a water leak behind a built in entertainment center that is difficult to reach but is next to the main water intake and water pump. Installed and tested a month ago and checked after a few days, the signals come and the sensor reads dry. Today I notice the wet carpet and remove everything to get behind the block and find the leak sensor in a puddle and wet to the touch at the top but not activated. Check my phone and no leak alert was sent. Move the sensor and getโ€ฆ

Pairing is difficult, keeps losing connection to hub

I have Leaksmart system installed in 2 houses. When this system works, it's great. Does what it says on the tin. Some sensors pair in seconds. Others have to sit down and repeat the pairing process 1000 times. Biggest complaints (and this happens in both houses - two separate systems): 1. Hub goes down for no reason. Wireless 3.0 hub in both houses. I get a notification out of nowhere that the hub is unavailable. Any other internet-connected device in the house is fine, so it's not a networkโ€ฆ
