Description of Line UGears Models Wooden Puzzle Puzzles: Crafting Your Way to Enchanting Mechanical Masterpieces

DESIGN: Before there were steam-powered engines and paved roads, there were horses. Strong and majestic, horses have been used as a means of transportation for centuries. UGears sought to tell the story of the reliability of these animals when they created the Horse-Mechanoid model kit. CONSTRUCTION: Laser-cut precision ensures joints and movements that are very close to that of a real horse, and the gears, cranks and rubber bands of the model work with gravity to give it its power. In fact, this model is so functional that its head even sways when it moves. In the chest, you'll find an oscillating pendulum that works as the horse's bionic heart. AESTHETICS: The UGears Horse-Mechanoid is a true masterpiece and built in the steampunk style the company's customers have come to know and love. A tribute to Japanese and Chinese inventors, Ancient Greeks, Leonardo da Vinci, and other great minds of the past who tried to create walking machines, this gorgeous model horse stands tall, moves gracefully, and offers all the aesthetically pleasing elements you'd hope to find in a model. INCLUDES: The color-coded templates and step-by-step instructions, which are available in 11 different languages, such as English, Polish, and Japanese, simply add to the ease of creation. This model features 410 parts and takes about 9 hours to complete, making it one of the harder kits available through UGears and a great choice for experienced model builders or those who want to voyage into longer projects. It was created with horse lovers ages 14 and older in mind. EASY TO ASSEMBLE: Created with sustainable, high-quality wood, the UGears Horse-Mechanoid Bionic model kit features everything you need to put it together. Laser-cut plywood creates easy-to-assemble, interlocking pieces that work like a puzzle, which means that you need no glue or special tools to hold this model together.

Pretty but not practical

The valve is difficult to assemble when trying to fit the parts together as shown. The included rubber bands were quite fragile. Cannot return the item as I started work some time after receiving it. It is advisable to follow the instructions in the photos, but not all nieces fit as they should. Bad project if you have little patience!

Unstoppable fun. Take your time. Grind well.

Great construction! Looks great. I use 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper on all moving parts and on anything that moving parts come into contact with. And all holes too. First complete and adjust the body to make it work well. Jump to your feet. Tighten one leg at a time, wrap it up and make sure it goes smoothly. Do this with each leg. Wax is not needed if you use fine sandpaper. The wood will be very, very smooth. Goes well. Not too far but it really looks like art! (Be careful not to grind the gear

Amazing Puzzle Model

Amazing Model. A very nice structure. A few assembly tips: Sand all sheet metal before removing any parts. I used 400 grit sandpaper first to smooth out the fibers and then 1500 to give the surface a shine. After removing it I sanded the edge faces but not the serrations. I didn't use wax, but I used graphite throughout. No. 2 pencil rubbed brilliantly on the mating surfaces gives a very smooth surface and does not increase the thickness of the details but may stain. This kit contains many…

Wonderful! - Puzzles

The first one I bought with my daughter, we loved it. The instructions are honest and tell you what to do and in what order. So.) The panels with all the parts are nicely labeled and some of them slide out easily; others not so much. I'm not sure if it's wood or cut, but one part just won't pull away from the panel. And because of this, the parts break very easily if you try very hard. (I might break my hobby knife set to cut out the pieces, we'll see.) Overall, enjoy!

After 10 successful models, this one is impossible

Hooray for those who actually make it work. Successfully completed the 10 most difficult UGears models. I've been at this for about a year and am revising to try and get everything working. Others have identified key issues. Gears are constantly blocked. Permissions are the problem. Disassembled, recycled, re-waxed, the parts re-sanded, and then everything may work at this stage, but it will fail again at the next stage. Previous Steps Same as current step again. The design concept looks great,

Nothing for beginners

My third puzzle in this series and by far the most difficult. If this is your first experience in any of them, forget it because it is a real challenge. Pay particular attention to the placement of gears 84 and 85 on page 22. I was having trouble getting the foot sync correct and the problem was that one of those two gears (84) was misplaced. I had to parse the horse to page 22 at least 6 times before I found an error. It has been my experience that gears, especially 84 and 85, get too much…

Beautiful but complicated model

This model is very difficult to assemble. I've made other (easier) ones and thought I was ready for this one. The biggest benefit is to ensure that the mechanisms work at all levels. I thought I could solve the problem of the base gears getting stuck when driving, but I didn't. After the elastic was wound it didn't snag at all so I tried to snap the model back and the elastic (with no way to release the tension) broke half of the model with toothpicks. My fault, not the models. Using lots of…

  • Few competitors

  • Repair

This horse is striking in appearance. Looks wild and energetic. It's quite a talking point just for its looks. I would give five stars for that alone. The movement isn't that spectacular, but it moves. There is an elevator key and start/stop control lever. The horse cannot take more than 5 steps without stopping or simply falling over. This is similar to a horse's final moves before it is killed by an arrow strike. The kit is a real buildable bear. Instructions must be followed. You may find…
