Type of review

You may need a coarser grit than this (to start with) if your valve seats are bad, but it was MORE than enough (depending on quantity) to seat the valves on a 1993 Mazda Miata. I now have enough of this connection to make a number of other products and even pass them on to my grandchildren years later.

I purchased several cylinder heads for my hot rod pickup project and like most aftermarket heads I had 2 valves that were not properly adjusted. Not drastic enough for the machine shop to intervene so I bought this product, some steel blue and a valve lapping tool and both valves were lapped and installed in less than 10 minutes. The little can is basically a lifetime supply for a guy like me. Although I know a few tricks I can use with it. Worth more than the few dollars it's worth.

Not just for valves

I bought this lapping compound from Clover to lap various parts on my metal lathe. The compound has the consistency of heavy grease, so it stays where it's applied and contains an abrasive. If you coat metal parts that slide over each other like a slide on a lathe and turn them back and forth by hand, the milling marks are polished out and the parts slide much better and more precisely.
