Description of Look Cycle Carbon Pedals Black

The LOOK design team has completely remodeled the shape of the KEO 2 MAX, giving it a new, slimmed down line yet a wider contact surface, increasing its style and efficiency. The contact surface of the new KEO 2 MAX preserves the strong lines on which its history was built. Its width has been increased to 60 mm to provide a larger platform and improved foot stability during pedaling. This creates a feeling of unrivaled comfort not found in any other pedal. Look also sought to optimize power transfer thanks to its new 500 mm of usable surface (+25% increase). The shape of the stainless-steel plate has been revised to match that of the cleat and to keep, regardless of the position of your foot (depending upon the angular float you use), the same amount of contact for consistent performance. Increasing the pedals usable contact surface, without any additional weight gain, improves the Power to Weight ratio, making the product even better and allowing you to perform at your best. The spindle profile of the new KEO 2 MAX has also been optimized. Built around an oversized (Chromoly Plus) steel axle, it is composed of an axle with an inner ball bearing and a needle roller bearing, located under the contact surface, to handle the load and distribute it optimally.

Excellent product good for cycling

Love these pedals, have been using them for over a decade and will continue to do so. One advantage is that they are fairly common/standard. For example, when I recently rented a road bike in San Francisco, this type of pedal came pre-installed, no problem.

Great pedal and price for carbon.

I have both the carbon and standard models and I don't think the difference in weight is worth the higher price. It's a good pedal and for a carbon pedal it's good value too, but overall I'd recommend saving your money and getting the standard looking Keo 2.

Difficult to cut off.

I've been riding Look Keo pedals for about two years. When I put them on my bike I was surprised that I had trouble taking them off. (Confirmed they have a different spring.) I think they would be good for races where you usually only snap once. Good for a coach. For normal road riding I took another pair of regular Look Keos instead for fear of an extra little lag that might give me problems on the road.

VERY difficult to solve

I have used almost every pedal system including Look Classic, Shimano SPD/SPD-SL, Speedplay and others. By far the worst pedal set I have ever owned. Sometimes they are very difficult to unhook (on the lowest setting!). Downright dangerous. This may be due to manufacturing issues as many seem happy with the pedals and many have the same issue as me (search the web and you will see very similar issues to mine). If you want a safe, crash-free release, stay away from the Keo 2 Max in my opinion.

Great sports pedal

I have been using Look Keo pedals for many years. I have previous models on two other bikes. I bought these to ride with my new Trek Domane SL7. Still the same great pedal, but now with a wider footprint. The only area that seems different is that even on the lowest settings you clamp harder. I can't say whether it's because they're new and some of them haven't been worn. Be aware of this and try them on the lowest settings they already have set close to the minimum. You won't be disappointed…
