LubeLocker AMC20 Differential Cover Gasket Review

When I finally got the right one it fit perfectly. Not sure who the seller was but got the wrong one the first time. Haven't tried removing and replacing it to see if it works for multiple purposes, but so far so good.

This oil doesn't last. It flows. Brand new diff cover so I know it's good and doesn't work with AMC 20 diff. Works well with others. I will not buy this again for an AMC 20 differential. If I could get my money back I would happily do it! Ordered an $8 cork seal to fix which this one can't. Lube Locker needs to reconsider this seal.

This gasket came with a 1979 Jeep CJ5. You must take your time and install this gasket properly to keep the AMC 20 differential from leaking. All surfaces must be surgically clean and smooth, meaning more than 40 years of moisture and corrosion have been removed. The original style cork seal was intended to be used with a lube where I used a slightly tacky adhesive to hold the cork in place. Unfortunately the grease cabinet for the AMC 20 flat does not work. There's almost no 1/4" thick piece of material around the screw holes. There's no way to seal the lid with a grease cupboard without a couple of RTVs. If they want to fix the structure, they'll have to make it protrude past the factory case. I've had annoying little leaks, 2 or 3 drops coming out after driving a jeep and the differential oil was warm. I've heard good things about LubeLocker products so I bought them for my next fluid change. As expected, it arrived in good condition. I drained the fluid and prepped the diff as usual. I had a leak from the AMC20 differential cover under my CJ8. I tried using LubLocker with the new diff cover to ensure success. Having a perfectly clean mating surface, I drilled holes for the cap and followed the gasket tightening pattern. It was worse than before! Thinking maybe I did something wrong, I took it off, cleaned everything and reinstalled it following the instructions. Still leaked!
