The original Mag-Safe technology uses a notch on the female end to connect the (energized) male end of the connection. I like it! I'm just back from school and will be taking my MacBook with me more often than before. I was frustrated that my Macbook didn't have maglev, that's all I needed. The magnet is strong and doesn't slow down the charging speed at all. I had it for about a week or so and had no problems

This works great with my wife's Pixelbook. She awkwardly grabbed her laptop and left without turning it off. On her last laptop it damaged the charging port so I wanted to keep it to a minimum when I bought her new laptop. It really works! I would definitely recommend this.
