2010 Nissan Pathfinder family members found a bad oil leak which was fixed. It seems that the oil cooler gasket is the weak point on these Nissan trucks. I was worried this might be a bigger problem but 7am and 1 hour of my time and it was fixed.
If your Nissan 4.0L V6 (Pathfinder, XTerra or Frontier) has a normal oil cooler leak, GET IT. The Fel Pro part listed here at Revain will not fit; it is too little. This Mahle O-ring costs a few euros more and fits the VQ40DE engine.
easy fix long dripping oil on my wife's 2005 xterra 4.0 v6 4x4. Plan for this when changing your oil, removing the skid plate, removing the oil filter, unbolting the oil cooler with a 22mm deep drill hole socket to access the gasket. I had a faulty oil pressure relief valve behind the oil cooler which was a headache for the project, but mostly replacing that gasket isn't the point.
Had to replace the oil cooler o-ring on my 2003 Infiniti G35. Ordered this o-ring and installed it and found the leak had returned two days later. I ordered a different o-ring from my local parts store and it was a smaller diameter than the Mahle o-ring. In fact, the parts stock o-ring fits perfectly into the Mahle o-ring. Now I don't know why there was a size difference but it fit as the Infiniti oil cooler has two grooves. The return of the oil leak wasn't what I wanted so I replaced theβ¦
