Versatile and Reliable 3D Printing Filament

Using this filament, our team found that it was incredibly versatile and worked well with a variety of 3D printers. The filament was also very reliable, which meant that we had fewer failed prints and less wasted material. The only downside we found was that the spool size was quite large, which might not be ideal for smaller printers or those with limited storage space.

Pros
  • Versatile, reliable
Cons
  • Large spool size

Best heatable self-adhesive filament I've found

I've run several brands of filament through my Felix 3.0 printer and this is the only one that doesn't need hairspray to stick on the glass of my heated bed. The prints are clean and even. However, the price is quite high compared to others and MakerBot loses a star for that.

Pros
  • Extensive quality testing at 100 and 200 micron layer resolution
Cons
  • I don't remember

Flawless thread which should be on an old 1kg spool.

Needless to say, MakerBot PLA Filament works just great. Excellent covering pigmentation, application temperature 230°C. My only minor complaint is the downsizing of the coil, although I know they did that for the Rep5G. I prefer a large 1kg spool, so MakerBot filament on a 900g spool is not my main filament. I don't mind the price difference but I do larger prints (200g+) and the slightly larger spool really saves me time. Time I pay to use another manufacturer as they have 1kg reels.

Pros
  • Free of heavy metals, phthalates, or BPA
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
