Suitable for narrow kayaks.

I have an Old Town Canoe Topwater 106. I don't feel safe using the Mega Wing with my wider kayak. My kayak rocks too much. I use additional mounts and my kayak still moves. When using this with my narrower kayak I have no problems.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • old

Great product!: Car trunks and trunks

Very happy with the overall quality of the Malone product and very happy with the mega wings! Makes loading and unloading a heavier yak easier. Advice from the provider Outdoorplay! There was a problem due to rough handling by the carrier and missing components. Outdoorplay took care of it quickly, although it was obvious it wasn't their fault. I wish all sellers were that professional.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

cheap parts. best car racks and holders

The tote itself fitted my kayak really well and really survived a 4 hour trip in windy conditions. Also easy to install. However, the reason I only gave it two stars is because this is my first time using it and the rubber covering the metal part is completely destroyed. The device only screwed on and off twice to adjust placement. My return period has expired so unfortunately I'm stuck with a defective part.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Works great with Crescent kayaks

Bought 3 of these to use with our Crescent team and a pair of Crescent CK1 Venture kayaks. Whether using a car or trailer, the MegaWing is a MUST HAVE for any similar V-style hull. The crew is 13 feet long, weighs 79 pounds, and is 35 inches wide; Each CK1 is 11 feet long, weighs 60 pounds, and is 34 inches wide. MegaWings easily holds and supports any kayak. I wouldn't recommend them for a shallower hull, but if you have a kayak with a similar hull don't think twice. Buy it!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Nothing

May be ok for small kayaks, junk for large non-V hull seat boats.

The rubber on the underside of the clip broke when tightening. They certainly won't fit in my large 15ft seat kayak. They are not wide enough and bend like a recurve bow under their own 90 pound weight. I have half a dozen kayaks and wanted something built specifically for big SOT boats for my big guy. Although they claim to be them, they most certainly are not. After the test load, I went to unload and due to the flexing of the wing, the kayak fell to the ground. If you have a really big seatโ€ฆ

Very sure! on Rooftop Racks

Regarding other reviews of this case: MEGA means increased carrying capacity, not increased length. Can't comment on heavier kayaks like the 120lb Hobies, but they carried my modified 100lb Seaghost 130 very reliably (for 3 hours) using the two (2) straps provided and multiple front and rear (550) cords ) screeds. Required front and rear brackets as my crossbars are very close together. Top speed was 65 mph and when I got there the charge was still solid. The wings are slightly flexible andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • handy thing

  • There are more interesting options.

Must have for big and heavy kayaks! Easy to install and very secure.

This was supposed to replace my old J-style kayak rack I have a Hobie Mirage Oasis tandem, great kayak but it weighs a ton. When mounted on my J-Mount it wobbled too much for my liking. Also, part of the J carry bag presses heavily on the side of my kayak. I also noticed that these cradles were starting to buckle on the sides. So the saddle style was the way out. I bought it after a long research. I'm glad I did as it was very easy to set up and my heavy kayak now feels very secure. The nutsโ€ฆ

Not very suitable for large SOT fishing kayaks

I have a Malone Seawing for my 65 lb SOT fishing kayak and I love them. Having bought two other kayaks that are much heavier and larger, I really missed this type of attachment on these new kayaks. Then I saw Megawing Malone, who seemed to be the answer to my prayers! NO. First, the Megwing is barely wider than the Seawing. All new, large, heavy SOT fishing kayaks are much wider than older, lighter kayaks. Even my Perception Striker 11.5 kayak (which only weighs 70 pounds and isn't exactly long

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
