I have a 2016 Nissan Frontier. This lock is not designed for this truck, but you can make it work. There are holes in the back of the truck. With the right screws you can mount the lock without drilling holes. Remove small covers. Look at the photos and you will see what I mean.

  • Few competitors
Cons

Easy to install and use

I use this lock to secure my mountain bike to the back of my 2017 F150. It installs in the stake pocket and installation was a breeze. It can also replace a lashing hook, but the lock will not work unless you remove or cut the factory clasp on the lining. I asked Masterlock customer service if the lock would hold the same load as the factory tie, but the rep seemed genuinely confused by the question. I wouldn't risk it.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons

Great accessory Good for sports

Essential when hauling gear in an open truck bed. Acts as an instant deterrent, saying this truck is safe. However, it does require you to use one of the post slots in the bed, so you can't add a ladder rack to the side you mount it to. If you have anchor points in your bed, you don't need them. Just a cable and a padlock, but since it costs about the same as a padlock, you might find it better. However, you need a cable. I mainly use it to chain gas cans to the back of my truck.

  • Nice item

Do not buy. Zero stars

A waste of $31 for several reasons including a terminal problem. First, it doesn't fit any of the four standard 2016 F-150 mounting points. The base is too wide and the bezel is maybe 1/4 inch too wide. To secure the bikes in the body, I decided to cut the frame. It wasn't an aesthetic option, but the plastic frame cuts easily. Now there is a fatal problem: the key was not removed the first time, the key did not rotate 90 or 180 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis of the lock assembly…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Short instructions

I bought this to complete my locking system to secure my Yeti coolers in the back of my truck and not have to worry about it. It's legal! It was difficult to install on my 2009 F-250 in the corner of the bed because it's VERY narrow. My truck didn't have a hole to fit this mechanism so I was able to unscrew the factory hook and use the factory screws to attach this lock to my truck. The way it was positioned pushed it all the way to the corner with no gaps, so I had to trim the bezel to sit low

Cons

Good locking point for your truck bed

Time will tell how it will hold up but looks and feels solid. It comes with 2 x 6mm screws that match the diameter of the two holes on the back of my 2016 Tacoma truck. I couldn't match the pre-drilled holes in the base plate perfectly, so I had to take the base plate and widen it a bit with a drill. Then it was easier to install it on my bed. I will use it as an anchor point to enclose the kayak in my bed. I may buy more or look for other options for additional kayak latch points that are more

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Vulgarity

A MUST FOR PICKUP OWNERS

As a landscaper and avid fisherman these locks were a godsend to me. I have six of these, four in the bed and two on the back rail of my Ford F150. I use it to enclose my gear, fishing tackle, kayaks and sometimes generators and power tools. If you have a pickup truck, you must have this lock to protect your valuables. EDIT: After first reading other reviews and concerns, installed it in minutes, my 14 year old daughter installed two of these with no problems. I've owned two trucks for four…

Lock ok but poor design

3 STARS based on the lock only: I agree with other reviewers, the key in/out lock/unlock design is terrible. Also, the key is so weak (the standard master lock weak key) that it can break if you turn it too hard. I know ML makes the best keys because I've seen them at 5ft. Cable cords, not sure why they can't do the same for this lock. And even after I got the cable loop in the lock, it was very difficult for me to turn the key to lock the thing. Great concept, bad design. Too bad no other…
