Master Lock Commercial Brushed SLCHKE26D Review

Replaced an old unit which was probably from the same manufacturer as the design was about the same. an improvement since you can break it from the outside, causing it to fall.

Bought the lock for a shop. It took hours to install only to find out it had a damaged part. I called Masterlock support and two different people told me they couldn't help me with spare parts as it was bought through Revain.

The door handle has a rotary handle on the back, which was not explained in the description, not suitable for me. It has been described as something that was always locked, requiring the key's 'pantry function', more like a locked passport lock.

Looks good. Only available with a rear mounted 2 3/4" latch, but the Scholar A Series lock with a 2 3/8" latch works great with this lock. I would give it 5 stars if it was available in a 2 3/8" rear. It accepted my Schlage high security lock cylinders with no modification.

In short, the reason for the exchange was that the key was lost and the door was accidentally locked. The guy drilled out the core of the lock and needed a similar if not identical replacement. I am familiar with Master and often use their locks in my position. This is for a lockable indoor cabinet in a private office so I have a feeling it will last a lifetime.

This is a class 2 commercial lock set. Only fits 2-3/4" backs. I bought two of these and installed them in the front doors (one steel and one fiberglass) in the back of my house. I decided to drill additional mounting holes. Very happy with the purchase. This is a solid, durable kit which I believe was made to high manufacturing standards. I would buy again for any door with the required backstop Once you install one of these, ordinary household locks look flimsy in comparison.

Everything about this model is of the highest quality, from the fit and finish to the construction. Very smooth locking mechanism. Make sure you have a 2 3/4" hole in the back of the door. I installed this in my front door in about an hour and a half, including cutting out the door frame for a larger hasp. The through bolts are removable, they were not needed for my handle replacement situation, you don't need them anyway as you are screwing the inner plate from the outside anyway to attach it…
