So far so good - reptiles & amphibians

Great light for the price. We have a bearded dragon and she really likes the light compared to what we had before (the heat lamp which was only temporary). She is much more active and with the right and balanced diet (worm meal and vegetables) she thrives. The lantern itself is small, but sufficient for a dragon. I'm guessing we'll add another light in the winter month depending on how cold it gets in their habitat.

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Slightly torn

If they work, they work well, if they don't, there is a risk of fire.

I've been using these for a few years, sometimes they burn out in just a few days, sometimes they last a month. The problem is that sometimes they go out with a bang when they burn out. I had 3 lamps damaged by these bulbs. The newest blow out the flame from the top of the lamp. The last straw for me. I'll find another lightbulb and change bulbs.

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Functionality

Cheap but works well enough to make me buy again.

I keep a lot of turtles and tortoises so I use a lot of heat lamps. They double as UVA/B and heat. The heat generated isn't crazy so I don't know a bearded dragon would be happy, but my turtles and cakes warm under them all day. I only have a few weeks at a time and it's still cheaper than buying more expensive brands at the big pet stores. Overall, I'm mostly happy with what I paid for.

Bulb can come off base

I have this bulb in a clip for my turtle tank. Recently the top of one of the lamps came loose from a metal screw in the base. The top fell into the tank and onto the moss, nearly catching it on fire. After that the clip started smoking and my turtle almost died. I inspected the base of the bulb when removing it from the clip and it looks like the bulb is stuck with mortar that doesn't seem to be holding. This can be dangerous if not checked regularly. I go back to the floor lamp.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Minor issues

Like so far but will be updated (4/7/19)

I got them because they fit my specs in type, voltage, watts and I totally forgot the size. I was so used to zoo bulbs that the size really scared me at first. I thought it would be a big problem but I tried anyway. Installed it on my turtle shell and so far it's doing the job. Leg (my res) is heated. The heat/light isn't as intense as in my zoo, but that was fixed by moving it a bit closer. I'm still impressed for the price and the amount you get, and it's still cheaper than ONE Zoo lightbulb…

Fire and dangerous

I have a colony of anoles. They worked great initially, tiny but bright and very hot. However, these light bulbs are very dangerous. I bought 60. Even if you touch the lamps to rearrange them (e.g. when feeding lizards), they'll burn out instantly, and not just your typical burnout. They exploded in a puff of black smoke with a dangerous and chemical smell. This happened several times in a row, so that within just one day I had to turn off all the lights and replace them with a normal heating…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Nothing
