Let me start by loving my Melitta. It is very easy to care for and durable. Received as a gift, decided to give to my mom for her birthday. I have the red one and it was much more curved on two sides than mine so it wobbled from side to side and it seemed dangerous that it would shift so much when you poured hot water in it. I am basing this review on my Melitta pour-over cone and filter; the one which prompted the request for a review was mylady's stocking, which is identical. Simply put, it's wonderful! Easy to use, easy to clean (can be washed in the dishwasher or just rinsed with hot water) and it makes great coffee. Problem 1: TWO 1¼" x ¾" peepholes are VERY large to view the coffee drip and release most of the vapor. When my coffee is ready, it's no longer hot. And yes, I use boiling water. It really only needs the clear plastic sections to see through, not the actual holes. Problem 2: The high climbing side makes it unstable. It is also on the same side as the sight holes.
