Mellif USB Battery Adapter DM18RL: Convert Dewalt 20V & Milwaukee 18V to Ryobi 18V Lithium-ion Battery Review

A handy item. Sometimes the budget only goes so far. I bought a Ryobi nail gun. Rather than wasting money on extra batteries, this inexpensive little thing made it easy to just use what I have. Works perfectly. Adds a little volume but it's worth it. Not having to worry about battery storage was the perfect solution for Ryobi.

That means you can easily ruin your good Dewalt battery if you let it run until it dies. Packages are not reloaded. The Dewalt tool has a scheme that prevents this, but you're using it on a Ryobi tool that doesn't have a scheme. This adapter MUST have it, but it doesn't. I ruined 2 packages before I found out about it. The figure shows a direct connection to the battery. WARNING!

The only complaint is that the release buttons that attach the adapter to the ryobi tools came loose during installation need to be pushed in, unlike Ryobi batteries which simply push and push into place. Even once secured, it will not fall apart without pressing the release buttons. Just a minor annoyance that I think can be fixed with a little adjustment to the plastic on the releases. Otherwise I would give 5 stars. Would buy again if needed

I hesitated to buy because these things never work properly. I have a Ryobi One+ Sander because it's cheap and wireless. I also have a million Milwaukee and Dewalt 18-20v batteries for all the other cordless tools I own. I didn't want to buy another battery as I had so many other brands so I bought this adapter. I wanted a battery powered (not for weeding) line trimmer but didn't want one of the cheaper ones with less powerful non-replaceable batteries. Ryobi makes one, but DeWalt doesn't.
