Bad Discs: Blanks

I bought these discs a long time ago but just got around to writing a review. These discs were a great deal ($) but when I tried to pick them up they had so many problems that I ended up using them as drink holders. Whenever I got tired of writing to them, some kind of error would occur and/or not read/write. I then checked and found that the quality was poor and many others had problems with it. I ended up getting a Sony spindle and it worked great! With Sony there are no problems. So, based…

Unreliable DVD-RW Product

The first two discs recorded "fine" but didn't play on my Phillips or Coby DVD players. This was very disappointing as Coby usually plays all types of media. Played only on the NEC 1100A drive they were created on. The next two discs recorded poorly with unknown errors. Unfortunately it would be too expensive to return this product as I am an international West Indian buyer. I also noticed visible defects (round spot) on several DVDs.

Difficult access to accessories and consumables

UPDATE! In my previous review I talked about how reliable these drives were for me right down to my last spindle. Revain sent me a new spindle and I had the same issues so I did some research. I found a great free app called DVD Identifier that scans discs and reports details like the true manufacturer. The discs I've had so good luck with in the past were actually made by Ricoh. The drives I had such problems with in the last two spindles are not. They are made by InfoDisc. Googling confirms…

Be careful: Blank media

I have a Gateway AR-230 DVD burner. I bought this pack of 25 Memorex DVD+RWs thinking it was a great deal. It's not a pity. The first one I used worked fine, but it just got me recording something on my timer, only to come home to find there was a disc burning error. The recording was lost, as was the DVD, as it was unreadable even when I tried to format it. I thought it was a one time thing, but the next two Memorex DVD+RWs I tried didn't work either. One stopped writing within 30 seconds of…

These discs do not work well on my recorder (RCA .

These discs do not work well on my recorder (RCA DRC8000N, purchased 2003) First of all they need to be formatted (or reformatted). After that they sometimes accept media from a TV or videocassette, sometimes not, resulting in an error message.I have used Verbatim, TDK and/or Maxell discs (which have already been formatted) for several years with satisfactory results.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • So far so good

Things to remember

I bought them after great success with the Memorex 25+R X4 set. They burn fine on my Liteone but can only be read by the same drive and not my other DVD. I have also confirmed memorex technical support; these discs have a much faster storage speed than the +r format; 5 years+ vs. 70 years+. for your information.

  • Communication with seller
