Mishimoto Tstat is good for parts

Works great, used to get up to 234 degrees on RX8, now won't go over 190 under load. I would highly recommend it to all RX8 owners.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Some issues

The part does not fit my MAZDA RX-8.

This part should have worked as the part number on the box was correct, but there was no way to tell if the thermostat itself was in the correct box. A $50 thermostat that I can't use and can't resell because I don't know what it fits. The thermostat looked well made, but that's not the part.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • weak

Complete garbage. best spare parts

the product is absolute scrap. It took less than a tank of gas. I did this just for extra security. After installation, it stuck in less than a tank of gas, causing my car to hit 235 degrees in under ten minutes of driving. I tried to prolong the life of the motor but ended up shorting it out. I know parts can go wrong but with this part it seems pretty common that they have to take it off the market.

Well made and high quality

Whilst I was hoping for slightly better cooling performance for my Rx8 as an everyday rider this thermostat offers reassurance as it is clearly well built. I noticed that the last one I used, a Stant brand thermostat, looked anemic in scope and performance before replacing it with a Mishimoto. I've already installed an all-aluminum Mishimoto radiator with a Gates water pump and can now relax comfortably behind the wheel of my 15-year-old car in the Arizona heat.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

CHECK BEFORE INSTALLATION! NEVER OPENED

I used to trust Mishimoto. But I think maybe this time I cost myself my engine. After installation, along with other parts, I had problems with cooling. I took it off and didn't leave the thermostat running and the car is struggling to keep the temperature. Then I decided to test it together with the normal one. Stem broken at 86°C (spec: 82°C). Mishimoto never opened even when I simmered it at 95°C (spec: 76°C). Go to your local auto parts store, a good employee will help you find the lower…

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons

This thermostat broke into several pieces within 2 months of purchase.

I installed this and may have seen better prices for a few weeks. then, after installing a few other parts, I was tracking cooling issues and didn't check that thermostat because "well, I paid $50 for a new thermostat less than 3 months ago, that couldn't be." I still have never seen a thermostat break so easily but I will never buy a Mishimoto part again. Almost wrecked my GD engine, man. Good thing I'm monitoring the temps on my own gauge (if you're a new rx8 owner and don't realize the stock
