Moen T2151BN Brantford Posi Temp Traditional Review

Great chrome look and easy replacement for an existing kit. This part took me about five minutes, it's really easy to do. I started by purchasing a new Moen chrome shower and showerhead combo to replace the plain showerhead that came with the house. Of course, my old showerhead had a different finish, so I had to replace the showerhead and matching trim kit. The image shows the product with the matching finish.

We wanted to update the look of the old Moen Posi-Temp shower valve and initially thought we would have to hire a plumber and take everything apart. We then learned that we could replace the fairing - which shows - which was the perfect solution for doing so without spending a fortune. Now it looks like new! We installed the Moen-Posi-Temp valve in the wall using the depth ring provided. This will adjust the depth of the flap from the finished wall to allow the finish to fit properly. Well, it doesn't fit. The photo shows a gap of about an inch between the grip and the pad. I called the Moen and they said it was NORMAL! The photos they use to sell this faucet do not show this gap. The trim kit itself is very good but if you have a thin wall valve setup how yourself turns out what I did, the flared part of the spout doesn't fit near the outlet (the panel that goes to the wall). The valve was installed so that the box it is held in rests squarely against the fiberglass shower wall, causing the valve to protrude too far and not move without opening the wall behind the shower.
