Excellent knife. suitable for wood carving tools

I have several Mora knives and other Mora carving knives. They are of great value and readily available. They are very sharp and easy to care for. I modified the tip to make it safer to work with as you don't need a sharp tip. And believe me, it's spicy. I will continue to buy Maura.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

We need more lasers. best in craft

I like this knife. It has a curved blade that makes it MUCH easier to cut curved objects like spoons, ladles, bowls and whatever, but I've found that even with a great knife like this it's REALLY difficult to cut seasoned hardwood. . Maybe it would be easier if they turned on a laser beam to cut into pieces of hardwood?! I don't know, I'm not a knife designer, I just love lasers.

  • Sturdy finish

VERY SHARP, be careful!

VERY SHARP out of the box. I accidentally cut my thumb pretty deep and ended up having to go to the ER and get a few stitches ha. There may or may not be feeling in the tip of the thumb and it took a few hours for the bleeding to stop. 5 Stars. Be careful, use a butcher's mitt and make sure your roommate's big bad dog is in the kennel before carving your own spoon. I can definitely recommend this carving knife.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Slightly torn

First impressions matter - it's cool!

I've owned this for less than a day, used it briefly on a recent spoon design I'm working on. That puts my $13 Beavercraft hook knife to shame. It's sharp as hell, cuts like butter, and makes removing stuff from a spoon's bowl so quick and easy that it borders on an effortless effort. The knife is of high quality, fits comfortably in the hand, corresponds to the dimensions and tolerances specified in the advertisement. Get it, it costs money.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • boring packaging

Not very sharp at best in Woodcrafts

Some disappointment. I have owned several Mora knives over the years and they have always been razor sharp and easy to care for. It had a very bad edge on our box. It had a strong ridge inside. I've never had a knife this curved before, so it took me a bit of fiddling to find a way to sharpen it. In the end I had a decent lead, but it took a couple of hours. I think I could do it in 20 or 30 minutes now. I also bent it into a tighter curve to reduce the width of the chip. The soft wood I used…

Mora likes rough edges

I have owned several Mora carving knives for over a decade including several double edged hook knives and several right handed ones that come in a 2 knife set. .As a left-hander, I learned long ago to be flexible and semi-symmetrical when using hand tools. But I wanted a left-handed hook knife that I could use to pull and push left-handed cuts (you can hold a right-handed left hand for a lot of movement). Some thoughts on this: The blade is not sharp. sharp enough to cut a finger, not even…
