I tried it with two remotes and it works as expected. I still don't know how to cleanly complete the bottom end. You may need to trim the bottom I think rather than trimming it afterwards.

I used a hair dryer to apply and it worked well just needs time. Required for the waterproof remote control ($55) for use around the hot tub. Seems to work and was very easy to use. I stuck the tail into the bottom of the pouch before heating it and sealing it tightly. I was still able to press the recessed buttons on the remote (Smart Fire TV). The plastic works perfectly.
