Rubbish, don't buy from Sports

My needle vise works much better than this junk. Once you release the pressure the connection fails again, the vise gives you room to seat the connection while maintaining pressure so the clamp can be adjusted.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Frequency

Did the job.: Shop Tools

I bought a bike that uses a chain lock so I bought a mini chain press tool. It was pretty easy to use. And most importantly, he did his job and made the process of connecting the chain easier. Hope that helps.

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Worked great! I followed the instructions fairly carefully and this tool did a great job of pushing the main 520 link so I was able to attach the bracket easily. I've tried this with custom tools in the past and it was a real pain and took 30 minutes. Using this tool, I installed and secured the Masterlink in less than 5 minutes.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

OMG it works on bike tools and maintenance

I've used a vise for the last 3 chain changes and tormented myself endlessly not only to install the faceplate but also with the clamp which sometimes took up to an hour took. Of course I'm no pro, but I bought it to see if it would help and I did it with skepticism. It took me 5 minutes to install my chain and the clip went on with no issues. I will NEVER install another master clip without this tool. I love it!

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

Best $12 I've Spent In A Long Time

After years of working with pliers, a vice and a few bloody blisters. Who needs these newfangled tools anyway? I gave up and finally bought one. These guys were one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. The hex is useless. Use an Allen key and ratchet and hold the tool with an open-end wrench or adjustable wrench. Makes the job much easier and faster. I read a review that said the tool wasn't heavy enough, well that's bullshit. With proper use, this tool will last for many years.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Job Speed

Excellent cheap chain press

I have a lot of cheap chain presses. I thought my stronger ones were better, but I keep coming back to this. Anyone who has changed the chain knows that these tools move in the chain as you try to use them. The ones with two holes to slide the chain link pins through are ridiculous. It has a slot so you don't have to line up the pins EXACTLY PERFECTLY when you click the main link. I forgot I had this tool and was struggling to use one of those cheap generic backup tool kits. I remembered I had…

Worked but is too small for me

I bought this along with a cheap chain breaking tool to replace the chain on a KLR650. I'll invest in better tools because the circuit breaker itself broke right away. But this is another story. This chain press did what it was supposed to: press the side plate against the posts far enough to install the chain clip. It was a bit difficult for me to figure out how to work with this, but just follow the instructions (included) carefully and you should be fine. After using this thing once, you can
