Description of Motorcraft FL-500S Original Version Oil Filter: High-performance filtration for ultimate engine protection

Helps protect against engine wear by screening out abrasives, such as carbon, sand, dust and bits of metal before they can get into your oil. Pressure-relief valves help minimize the chance of contaminated oil circulating back into the engine. Pressure-relief valves also help maintain the supply of oil to the engine under extreme cold conditions or if the filter gets clogged. Steel cases are “ironed” for a precise fit, fluted to ease removal and painted to resist rust. Efficient filter media offers increased dirt-collecting capability and ability to capture more engine-harming particles.

Good for 5000-7500 miles "oil drain interval " my dealer swears

Quality OEM factory style oil filter. Can't beat the price of pt. Many non-Ford vehicle owners are aware of this and use it on GM and Jap vehicles. Good for 5000-7500km "oil change interval" my dealer swears! Even with fully synthetic oils I never drive more than 5000 km. Going higher I miss over 5k. I am changing oil filter type (brand) and am using Mobil 1 / Bosch / WIX XP / Royal Purple oil filters rated at 7500-10k drain interval or higher etc.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Reliability

2012 Ford Taurus SHO

This is the best filter, maybe not even close but it is a good filter and will be good for 5000km or 6 months, won't be anymore. than that. This is OEM for Ford vehicles and costs about half the cost of the best filters, but if you want to use longer intervals, get a better, higher rated filter. I ran it for 5K with full Mobil plastics and sent a sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis, the results were normal. I am currently using the Puralator Boss filter but I would use it again.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Probably great for oil filters

I have used Motorcraft oil filters in the past with great results. They are OEM on Ford vehicles. I ordered this at a great price, changed the oil in my Ford Fusion and when I tried to screw this filter on it didn't fit. I already filled it with oil, which I like to do when I put in new oil filters, so I couldn't return it. I checked the part number and realized I rushed to order the wrong oil filter. So now I have to go to my local auto parts store and pay a large sum to get the RIGHT filter…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Operating speed

Motor boat is good. However

I only use Motorcraft oil filters on our old truck. The truck is usually sent to a Ford dealer for an oil change. But with all the people coming into the area where I live, the line is forever. Easy 4 hours for an oil change. I'm changing my own oil right now. Revain Synthetic High Mileage and Motorcraft filters. and it was a filter that was on a truck from the dealer. Guess what!? Wrong filter, truck must be with FL-820-S. crap dealer. In any case, when I received the filter, there was no seal

Good alternative to oil filters

Firstly, I personally like using M1 filters which have an extended life of 20,000 miles. They cost $10-17 depending on the price. They cost $5 and are still great filters. So. In the summer, when I don't mind changing the oil every 3-4k miles and keeping it fresh and clean, I use them. In winter, when I'm transplanting much dirtier snow and mud, I use the M1 with a spare of 8,000 km. That's usually enough to get me from mid-December to April. In summary, if you plan on changing your oil at 4500

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Motorcraft FL500S Oil Filter. Motorcraft

This is the best value I have found for my truck (also fits Chevy). So I was happy about that. I would like them to be available for purchase in two or three packs for an additional cost - as a "do it yourself" I can well foresee that. For my other Fords I've always used this (brand) when it says they replace the OEM because of their cost. While I can, and why I'm so happy about this valuable purchase, is that the whole "high" mileage thing seems questionable to me. there i went under my…

Perfect fit for your latest model Ford

These are factory recommended replacement filters for various Ford vehicles including mine (Taurus SHO 2014). The price here on Revain makes it very competitive with local stores, although Rockauto offers competitive prices too. The FL-500S uses a silicone anti-drain valve that you won't find on many aftermarket products of the same price. Other than that I have not used anything other than a Fram PH10575 on my SHO for the last 3 years and have never had any problems. There is no rattling noise

  • nice little thing
