Motorcraft FT130 Automatic Transmission Filter Review

Fits perfectly, replaces the original in less than a minute. After installing a new filter, there were no problems with the box!

I bought this filter thinking it included a 17 hole rubber gasket but it came without. The transmission sump on my Ford Taurus 97 gl has the metric designation AX4N (AX4S) as in this URL [.] Now I had to look for part number FK67800D which is a molded rubber used in conjunction with part number 67800D ( filter with green seal). - AX4S excl. SHO/95-Up) (F6DZ-7A098A)

Hey, that's a Motorcraft transmission filter. What could be bad? This is probably the best branded replacement part for this filter and yes you should change the filter when you change the fluid. Be careful, the old plastic gasket holding the filter in place tends to get stuck in place and needs to be VERY carefully pryed out with a knife or even better a small flathead screwdriver. Be very careful not to damage the surrounding pipe. Patience and you will succeed.

Motorcraft FT130 automatic transmission filter kit is perfect for my 2003 Ford Taurus. The biggest challenge was removing the entire sump full of gear oil. So I bought a Dorman 265-803 transmission pan with a drain plug and changing the transmission fluid is a lot easier now. Shame on you Ford. Also, the seal has been replaced with FEL-PRO TOS18735. Made here which is a plus. Unfortunately, the word kit means it comes with more than just a filter. There is no gasket included. Bought for my 03 Taurus and had to pay extra for a Wix filter that came with a gasket. Needless to say, Wix was made in China, so I just used a Motorcraft filter and a Wix spacer.
