Great 4 Motor Board, Easy Software, Plus LEDs

This product works great and has good documentation on the Github website. I was able to hook up my engines and modify the Python library in half a day. I like the fact that it offers 4 motor controllers instead of just 2 like other boards. Another interesting feature I wasn't aware of was the LEDs on the board. There are four sets of LEDs forming an arrow in four different directions - forward, backward, left, right. This is a great exercise for my students in the coding club.

Pros
  • Single motor output current: 600mA or 1 Apk per channel
Cons
  • Almost OK

At the moment the test/demo code was run to power a pair of DC motors, the L293D chip failed and when that chip collided with the Raspberry Pi, shut down to whom it belongs, set it on fire and damaged the Pi with mud from the chip. complete failure. Having pulled all the forces from around the room, I had to clean the room from fumes. Also, the documentation on the GitHub doesn't work. Some codes contain errors and conflicting information in the specification. Pull requests have been submitted…

Pros
  • Dual H-Bridge IC L293D. Motor input voltage range: 6-24V
Cons
  • New competitors appeared

Hot computers and accessories

I got it up and running in about 15 minutes. You must have a hint for it to work. Destinations are, as expected, rare in these sets. Great little experiment. Also keep an eye on what voltage/amperage you put it on - it will heat up quickly if you put too much on. The chip heated up to about 125 degrees at 3V and 185+ at 4.5 volts (before I unplugged it). And that when measuring from the opposite side of the board! I wouldn't expect it to last long at this temperature. It needs a heatsink before

Pros
  • onboard engine turn signals,
Cons
  • Some trouble

Code does not compile

The code provided on the Github page does not compile. There are open issues on the Github page that have been active for over a year with no resolution. The only thing that really got resolved was when the user did it for them. Avoid doing this unless you want to debug someone else's code. Update: They changed their code and now it's compiling. However, after some tests with a multimeter, the board lets through less than half of the input voltage. If you have 6v motors you need to put 12v…

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Hard to tell
