MSD 82438 Blaster Coil Plug Review

You were the perfect solution to our miss problem. came with new spark plugs and it was like a new car. Recommend the product for all these Ford 5.4 3V engines. Just follow the instructions to remove the old plugs and you're good to go. Make sure your rental shop has a plug removal tool in case you damage it.

I am in the transmission business and have used MSD for many years. With them the boots are a little shorter than the standard brown boots on my '09 5.4L 3 valve but fit perfectly and work perfectly. Very noticeable improvement in throttle response and stroke. I doubt there is an HP boost, but much better response and pickup. Seems to run a bit smoother at highway speeds too. I got a little shudders at highway speeds so I replaced them and the spark plugs at 86,200 miles.

They have been on my Ford Expedition for over a year (approximately 10,000 miles). No problem. The last set I used (non MSD) lasted maybe six months before a coil died. I don't know if this directly affected my mileage as I installed it when I locked up the cam phaser so my highway mileage went from 18/19 to around 16/17. The decline can have many reasons. I will basically say it was due to a clog and NOT coil packs.

I have a sport trac 2008 v8 4.6 3v this motor has a long case coil, once on the road I had a coil failure and the only coil I have on hand is a motorcycle dy511 short with coil no problem since 1 month ago check engine came with misfire code i chose this kit for me it fits perfectly have not noticed any increase in performance but the engine runs perfectly like new.

It says it's fit for 2009. In late 2007 Ford replaced the cylinder heads with an updated spark plug and new brown coil covers. These changes apply to F150s built after May 2007. They wore shorter black boots and feathers. Although it is written as suitable for 2009, it is not out of the box. You either have to reuse the old boots and springs or spend another $40 on new boots and springs. Wait why would I pay for new boots when the product description says they will fit later heads as all 2009…

I was a bit nervous about getting these as everyone says you should buy OEM coils but because of the price difference I decided to give them a try. They worked great and I've done about 12000 clicks on my 09 F-150 and they work fine. The protective casing on them was a little shorter than the original ones I took out, but they fit well and I smeared them with plenty of dielectric grease to keep water or anything from getting in there.
