Description of NAMSAN Pet Screen Door - Lockable Sliding Doggy Door, Inside Size 12x16 Inches, Cat & Dog Entrance, Automatic Closing

Namsan pet screen door made of quality ABS material, durable and sturdy. Hanging hinge design made this screen dog door swings both ways freely last for a long time. Magnet slows the door down and stops it in place after 4-5 times sway. Inner Size 12" x 16", Outer Frame13.8" x 18", fit most pets like dogs, cats, rabbits, pet pigs, but not recommended especially little kittens and puppies because this door is too large. Only for existing screen door, porch, window or any other screen areas, but can not be used for thick wooden, iron/aluminum doors, walls. It does not come with the screen insert, you need to put the cutting-out existing door screen between the door flap when installing. Use a flat-head screwdriver to separate doggie door so you have 4 parts(frame, flap) and cut down 2 black tabs. Tabs can push one into a hole on one side to lock the door to stop pets go in and out, double-sided slots lockable. Apply the glue inside doggy door frame to fix it during installation, but the package does not come with the glue, recommended purchase Gorilla Glue. Whether you end up using glue or not, you must use 4 zip ties (provided) to hold the outer frame top and bottom to keep the door from separating and falling.

It was relatively easy to install

It was relatively easy to install. I have a graceful 40 lb German Shorthaired Pointer and a 75 lb Lab that use the door with ease. We've had it for about 3 months and have had to put the two pieces together once since the initial install. I'm not sure what the two pieces that detach from the top of the door do, but one came off. One of the "loops" also came loose, but we added a zip tie for reinforcement and that seems useful. Now that it's winter and cold, we haven't used it much in the last…

works perfectly! for doors, gates and ramps

My 60 lb dog broke the last door we installed 2 years ago. Getting a little nervous, she jumped out the door and forced it open. This one was closest in size to the old one. It was easy to install using the same old doorway. What I love about it is the "hinge" that allows the door to swing. The old door had plastic parts and over the years they all collapsed with only the grille holding the turntable in place. This one is of higher quality! I followed another reviewer and secured it with zip…

Unreliable - Dogs

This is my 3rd door in 3 years! I really love this product and the door gets a lot of use! Between my own dogs and my 7 grandchildren running back and forth, over time it will break, the frame will fall apart and the door won't go back in. It has nothing to do with the product itself, for me it's something I use all the time. I don't mind swapping out the same door to allow my dogs to come and go. Edit - 9/22/19 very disappointed that this door model only lasted a few months. The door keeps…

Works Modified

It WORKS but does not stay locked. My dogs were actually afraid to use it because it fell on them. I don't know if it matters, but I used pet-resistant screening. During installation I couldn't put the pieces together without first piercing the screen. Since it worked when it stayed connected, I decided to change it rather than reset it (plus I already had a hole in my screen). I bought some 4" black zip ties and drilled 2 holes about 1/8" apart with a small drill through the outer plastic…

Worth the effort good for dogs

I put it on a glass porch so my dogs can get into the fenced yard. Since I couldn't remove the screen for assembly, it was probably more difficult than if the screen could be placed on a hard surface. In the end, one person from the outside pressed a piece of plywood against the screen while another person inside the screen tapped the inside edge with a rubber mallet, trying to install the pins that held the two sides together. It was very difficult at first to line up the two sides exactly so…

Here are some more detailed instructions.

Old dog - new tricks? I just installed this an hour ago and am hoping our 10 year old Bassett gets the hang of it. But I have to say, these are the worst guides I've ever used! I'm pretty skilled and figured it out, but not because of those cryptic instructions. Even the pictures are confusing. My instructions: 1. Basically you start with a flathead screwdriver or spatula to separate the frame and then the door so you have 4 pieces. I used a spatula.2. Then install one half of the frame in the…
