7 years - network products

So I've had this router for almost 7 years. 7! And it still works better than my cable provider's wireless boxes. I'm in a two story 4000 square foot house. Are there dead spots? One or two, but mostly in the wing of the house where the signal has to go through 2 outside metal clad walls. All in all it was a great wireless experience and handled my slow growing IoT. A few Alexis, a few connected lights and wall switches, plus the usual onslaught of phones, tablets, and TVs. If you can still…

Still the best Netgear router for me

After owning this router for over 4 years I have tried two new Netgear router models, the R6700v3 and the R7000P. None of them were as good as the R6250. The main problem with the R6700 is the SSID limitation. This prevents the same SSID from being used for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. This forces you to have multiple SSIDs on the same network. I don't want to debate the pros and cons of multiple SSIDs, but I wish I had the choice to make a decision. The R7000P "solved" this problem by…

So far, so good. - Networking products

I was able to set this up in minutes and it's been working great so far (about 2 weeks). This is the fourth Netgear router I've bought in the last few years. I've never had major problems with them; Every purchase after the first one should benefit from the higher WiFi speeds. I don't have a program to test/verify the speed we get from AC, but it's very fast compared to 2G and N. My computer is a floor and many walls away from the router, and I can easily connect to 2G and 5G associate. Our…

Bridge. I hooked it up via a 5GHz N-AC from an R6300v1 to provide wired LAN connectivity to my upstairs shop and it was incredibly easy (updated DD-WRT routers are usually used). I connected my main system to a GHz port with a Cat 6 cable and it delivers amazing speed and throughput and works flawlessly. Connecting a few other machines didn't slow anything down. I have no doubt it will be a great access point, but if you want my setup then these two devices work great together. The R6300v1 acts

Great custom experience. DD-WRT not required (yet?)

Very impressed with the features and performance of this router. I also bought a matching Netgear AC wireless adapter and was able to transfer files at 30MB/s (240Mbps). That's a far cry from the 700Mbps on most review sites, but it's worth noting that I was on a different floor and it's almost five times the speed I got from my N router and configuration. The GUI worked great and immediately tried to guide me when I connected my first device, my computer. Opening the website automatically…

New, very impressed!

Opened and installed this router tonight and am very impressed so far. Installation was easy, setup was easy, connection is solid and covers every room in my house (one floor but long). The only thing I don't like about the router is the inability to change the username from "admin". . Make sure you provide a strong password if you decide to buy one as everyone will try Admin as their first thought for a username. Setting up the network was easy, everything was laid out with simple…

Great router for the price!

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I haven't had it long enough to know how long and well it works. It is currently AMAZING. The connection worked right away. Setup was easy and I set the same Wi-Fi passwords as the previous one. All my devices worked instantly without re-entering any passwords. I was standing in the backyard of my 1800 square foot home with the doors closed and in full communication. I was also standing across the street in a neighbor's yard and in my garage…

Pros
  • Finally bought it

  • Not everything fits

Best WiFi Router for Next Gen Computers

This WiFi router is great, it can be a little expensive but it is worth the investment, the WiFi performance alone is literally like a bulldozer, the signal is strong. My house is over 90 years old and the walls are so thick that my old router had a hard time reaching me on the third floor and through some of the walls in my house without constant buffering. This router literally forwards the signal without losing any data packets. It's a worthwhile investment, especially when it comes to the…
