Do not buy. look elsewhere

My house is only 1900sf. I bought 3 of these just to add wifi to my house. According to Netgear, one of these should have been more than enough. The WiFi speed in my house fluctuates constantly. One minute I get 340 Mbit/s, the next minute it's only 35 Mbit/s. Not happy with this product or Netgear support.

Deceptive network product speeds

This product does not provide AC speed at all. If I can get 400Mbps 802.11ac 5GHz Wi-Fi with it, I'm in luck. I have a Verizon Fios 1Gb/1Gb connection and a 3 orbi mesh setup. My laptop (Alienware) has an Intel AC 9260 2x2 wireless card. Signal strength is great and it's the most consistently good Wi-Fi setup I've ever used, but it really makes 802.11ac a gimmick. Also note that the Wi-Fi you are using is limited to 866Mbps, which is NO OFFERED SPEED. The backhaul links offer 1.7 Gb/s between…

Pretty good product with terrible support. My satellite device broke during the warranty period and after 10 hours (not an exaggeration) on the phone with Netgear tech support over a month ago I received a valid RMA number. I waited over a month for a replacement unit to be sent even though I paid over $30 for expedited shipping. Now they have my $30 and no one tells me when to expect a unit replacement. One month, which means sending the device in for replacement quickly?! If you buy this…

Unreliable. in Whole Home & Mesh Wi-Fi Systems

Do not buy this product as Netgear has constant problems and every time you call support you have hours to reset your router and of course then you have to add all your devices to Wi-Fi and imagine what for It's a pain when you have 30+ units in your house, not to mention it broke again a few weeks after calling support when they apparently fixed it. When i say 'broken' i mean i have 1 gigabit hp internet coming from fios and everytime i am near this satellite i have so bad internet and the…

I had big problems with WiFi in this building

I had big problems with WiFi in this building. I think there is a load bearing wall with concrete in it that is causing problems. Anyway, I've had an Airport Extreme as a router for years in the past and tried using the Airport Express to extend the signal. It was good once and then stop. I tried the mesh system TP Deco M5. It will also fail regularly. With the Airport system and with the Deco I would have to restart them to get WiFi again. A few days ago I bought a Netgear Orbi AC3000 RBK53…

Orbi simplifies your home WiFi with a single SSID and an expandable mesh network that reaches every corner at lightning speed. spokes (the router is the hub and the satellites are the spokes in the house) or in a daisy chain (the router is at one end of the house and communicates through the satellites to get to the other satellites. Waste of Money - Home and Mesh WiFi Systems

I bought an Orbi RBR50 with one satellite that claims to cover 5000m². ft. I have a three story house with an area of 4600 sq. ft. ). It covered about half of the house with a few dead spots in that half. So I bought two more satellites. We placed a satellite on each floor covering the whole house. About a month later the problems started. Devices cannot connect; sometimes they would appear connected on Orbi and on the device, but with no internet; One of the satellites was shut down from time…

Huge improvement with new firmware

Do not buy this product. The equipment is excellent. When it works, it works beautifully. However, at the time of writing this post, the Orbi had been corrupted by firmware for about three weeks. Recognizing that a firmware update can have unforeseen consequences and hoping a fix will arrive soon, Netgear's woefully inadequate handling of the situation tells me this is a company you won't want to trust going forward. I bought this product about 6 months ago. return. I have a system with a…
