Not only does it work great, it also looks beautiful

I bought this for my office because the first one I had at home was so good. I recommend this to everyone. Notably, the PC card is flat and doesn't stick out 2 inches like some other brands. Installation was straightforward, but I ended up using Windows XP's wireless setup rather than Netgear's.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Good performance; may have quality issues

Your wireless router/access point has good logging capabilities. Many entry-level devices of this type do not have these features. It is very easy to set up for a beginner. I am partially convinced that these devices have quality problems. The wireless part on a friend's Netgear MR814v2 has stopped working. The router I bought was returned due to a similar issue; It was definitely a malfunction as some of the LED lights stopped working after a few days. However, part of the switch remained…

Works great, price is right!

For such a cheap package I didn't have high expectations that it would work. I've been using it for 5 days now, so far so good. Installation took a few hours - more because of my Arescom NetDSL 800 modem and its quirky settings I think than this product. (The last time I installed this modem with a wired router it took just as long). Wireless range seems good - I can use my laptop in the basement, 2 floors from the router. The fact that it doesn't get a 5-star rating is prevented by the fact…

A good router still works

I've had this router for almost a year and it still works. The router has a wireless option and 4 wired ports. Initially it was a bit difficult to set up the router considering the security measures, but after some effort it worked. And don't expect Netgear to help with any aspect of the router. The reference documents are outdated and completely meaningless. You can find more information about the router on the Internet, not on the Netgears support site. The WLAN connection is a bit sluggish…

Great investment in wireless.

Great product! Easy installation! I was surprised how easy it was to set up 4 computers, 3 wired and 1 wireless. I used to have a Linksys and was happy to know that NetGear is just as easy to install. Reminder: Protect your wireless system from War Drivers by following the instructions on the website.

  • Not bad, but...

Great Wireless Router

This router packs a lot of features into a small, beautiful and easy-to-use package. There are tons of security features (MAC filtering, WEP, firewall, etc.) as well as an end-to-end VPN that lets you work remotely. I have had no problems with this router in the 2 years that I have had it. The only problem was that it was very slow at one point because all my network traffic was running at just a few Mbps. But after restarting the router everything worked fine and I haven't had any problems…

Short-lived product

Easy to set up and use. Good connections _initially_. However, the quality of the product is poor and the support is terrible. After using this router for 4-5 months I am going back to my old Belkin router. The reason is disconnects and expensive support options with a Netgear router. Recommend this for short-term and experimental use.

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Waiting too long

0 stars if I could. in routers

Bought from Staples a few weeks ago (.). It worked fine for about 4 days before the router crashed (yes of course routers can crash just like Windows). The installation utility is simple, but it doesn't take long to connect. Every few hours I have to unplug the power cord and in some cases hard reset my router to turn it back on. I flashed it with firmware up to the latest version 5.3 posted on the Netgear website but the same problems persisted. I would give it 0 stars if I could but don't…
