The reason for the unusual tongue is that it does not let water through. This is a waterproof shoe and the design is a feature, not a flaw. The problem for me is that they were too small. I always wear a 10 but these fit like a 9.5.

They work as intended but look like middle aged men's shoes - my husband was in dire need of golf shoes and these fit - everyone looked at them and started joking about boys middle-aged - but they work - well suited, especially for wide ones!

These are beautiful shoes. The only problem for me is that it slips. These are not shoes with a tongue that you can unlace. Not enough photos to see that everything is in one piece. If you have a high arch or wide foot, you will find it difficult to wear these shoes.

The lacing pattern, especially the upper eyelets, may seem confusing at first, but once you've tied them you'll understand. The shoes are light and comfortable, but stable when rocking. The sneakers dyed my white athletic socks navy blue. I don't know if that applies to all pairs but the paint on the inner lining is bleeding. I contacted New Balance to let them know, not to complain but to let them know for quality control.

I have several types of New Balance shoes and love them - hiking, running, walking, cross training, softball. Thought to try these golf shoes - BUT I do not recommend these golf shoes. They have an unusual design that made them unsuitable for me. They don't have a traditional tongue, so the shoe doesn't open up for you to put your foot in. I got them the size I wanted but my foot didn't fit in! The hole for your foot is stiff, inflexible and too small.
