Disappointed - Camera & Photo

After being told by Nikon support that this teleconverter would work with my equipment (special DSLR body and lens) I found upon receipt that the lens did not go with the teleconverter fit. The teleconverter was returned (thanks Revain!) and a Nikon spokesman apologized. live and learn

Fits AF-S Nikkor 600mm

Received this converter today. Tested on D4s with AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4D IF-ED II lens. It works, which is good for me as my TC-14E III does not fit this lens. Auto focus works well. The maximum F is F8. Several shots posted here. All full screen, no cropping. The item is soft. I will update this review later when I take more photos.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • So far so good

Good enough. for camera and photo

I've read mixed reviews about this teleconverter and now a newer model is available. I can tell you that I will keep this TC-20E II. I am happy with the results when using this device with my D700 and my 70-200 F2.8 VRII lens. I only use it in good light, but when I need a 400mm range this little lens comes in handy. I rarely need that range, so buying a $6,000 Nikon 200-400 zoom won't work! So far I'm happy with the TC-20E II.

Good product but do your homework before ordering

To buy a teleconverter you have to work hard. Teleconverters aren't nearly as compatible with lenses, including those from the same manufacturer, as most people might assume. Although I use it with an old Nikkor 70200mm lens for sporting events, it's actually designed for longer telephoto lenses. If I had to do it all over again, given the softness of this short lens, I'd probably opt for a shorter Nikon teleconverter. However, the TC-20 II works with my smaller lens but none of my other…

I was surprised. good for lenses

I was willing to send this doubler back if it performed as poorly as the 2x Kenko Teleplus Pro which had significant chromatic aberration issues and Softness in my 70-200 f/2.8. But I am delighted with the quality of this glass. I see almost no degradation in optical quality when using 70-200. With my D300 I can shoot handheld at ISO 800 in normal light with acceptable noise at f/5.6. The overall performance was much better than I expected. The goalkeeper. It's worth noting that reviewers who…

Takes you to the next level

I really enjoy using this teleconverter. It works great with my Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8 VR1. I read and watched so many reviews on this product and bought almost none after hearing about the soft pictures. This does not apply to me. I'll admit I have a few soft shots here and there, but I think it's down to my time and not the lens combination. But I also have so many amazing Tac Sharp still images that I would never get because I would have to crop so much to get the same closeness

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Some problems
