🍢 Norpro 14-Inch Stainless Steel Skewers, Set of 6, Silver Review

Was looking for metal skewers but worried about the quality of the stainless steel from China. Especially since they pierce your food. I bought them because I had at least heard of Norpro before and not many of the made up names made in Chinese factories. I was pleasantly surprised that they are made in Italy. Good length and no problem putting lots of meat and veggies on it.

They are nice and strong, much stronger than I expected. The only complaint about the tip. Although they are pointed, they should also be slightly pointed to make it easier to "cut" the food when you squeeze it. It doesn't have to be sharp, but it does need to be filed lightly. This is normal with meat, but sticking on tougher foods like zucchini and zucchini requires a bit of force, which can be dangerous if your hand slips.

This is a really good product. They're long enough to leave room on each side so nothing bunches up or gets crushed. The skewer is also flat so nothing turns. Both are very simple things that don't seem to matter until things start to twist when you try flipping them on the grill, or you mash a tomato to get that last mushroom at the end. It just allows the end product to cook a lot more evenly without the rotating piece sticking.

I have many other NorPro kitchenware and have always been impressed with their quality and attention to detail in design. So I decided to order NorPro skewers, I don't regret the decision. I can buy more of these. I like that the skewers are flat and the food doesn't move on the skewer when it rotates. All blade edges are beveled to ensure the blade will not cut you when handling. Very well made from heavy gauge stainless steel, with good care they should last a lifetime.

These skewers are fantastic! I was skeptical that stainless steel would be flimsy and/or brittle and that the tips would pierce food with huge holes. I like the flat sides because my food cooks evenly and closes tightly in my grill with protruding ring tip handles. The ends are sharp, be careful! But their sharpness is just enough to stick meat and vegetables on a skewer. Food stays nice and firm without swirling, resulting in even browning on all sides. Liked the idea, ordered 4 packs. Not as wide as I thought, but last night they worked and the onions and peppers stayed and didn't turn when flipped. I only twisted them once and made them with pliers on the round end. I think I should get a grill mitt. I thought they were going to rust when I opened up the dishwasher this morning, but it was just the tops that got blasted with vegetable juice.
