Works best in Whetstones

I'm new to sharpening so I need something that will allow me to set up the blade quickly so I don't have to hold the angle for too long. The 220 was great at it and I was able to fix a small chip on two of my knives pretty well. A few dozen passes over 1000 grit and a honing knife and all was fine. I have 220 (never used) 1000, 4000

Some say the 220/1000 combination is impractical, but that's because a lot of people sharpen that particular sequence, as well as Norton's own designs for these water stones. Their other stones also jump from 1000 to 4000 and 8000, much steeper than what you'll see with other water stones, but the grit is designed to work with each other. I didn't see any real difference when I
