Cigarette Lighter with Alligator to OBD2 16 Pin Male Connector Power Cable :Powered by any jump starter with a 12V outlet into an OBD II Memory Saver.Plug it into the OBD Male connector of the vehicle, plugging the cigarette connector into the clip cords, hooking it up to a 12V battery source.Note:This device can work with any 12V DC power source, including jump starter, DC 12V Lead-acid battery, or another car’s DC 12V power outlet. Super Long 10ft (3meters) Cable: plenty long until you try connecting it to another car's battery or cigarette lighter. In this way, you can change your car battery, also by get the alternative 12V power source from another car, when you not have a jump starter on hand. 8 amp fuse built into the memory saver, better reliable on overload protection. Powered by any jump starter with a 12V outlet into an OBD II Memory Saver. Interface connector between a 12V DC power source and vehicle's OBD II port. Preserves vehicle codes and electronic presets. Replacing a car battery on older vehicles used to be simple!! You unhook the old battery and install the new one. Work no problem as all ODBII ports :It works on any vehicle with OBDII which is 1996 and later (You will be plugging one end into it). It is not needed or required to change your battery. It is used to keep the memory of you radio setting and other memory computer controlled devices on the vehicle (EMCU for example.) It is used as a convenience as to not erase the memory. EASY TO REPLACE :Should you not have jump starter (or Lead-acid battery) on hand, and the device can also get the 12v power supply from cigarette lighter of another good car. Just insert the Cigarette lighter plug to this car and insert into 16 pin plug to the OBD port of the car you want to replace battery.

NOT the best of the two for code reading and scanning tools

This product is NOT a two pack. The seller claims that since it includes two 'things': an OBD adapter and a cigarette lighter adapter, it makes it a '2 pack'. Remember that you are paying twice as much as you think. Whether it works or not, I don't know. I checked that the power supply is properly connected to pin 16.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • There are bugs

Save time troubleshooting

This is my second. The former just plugs into the connector but has the option of using a bare 9v or 12v battery saving space for all radio settings etc, seat mirror mileage navigation etc when replacing the car battery. Note: Some vehicles require a firmware flash when the battery voltage falls below a certain level, just under 9 VDC.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

Worked as stated.

Used to save vehicle settings when installing a new battery on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The long cord made it easy to connect to an external power source. I opened the car door and waited for the lights to go out before plugging in the memory saver to ensure minimal usage. Worked great. From the LED on the connector I was able to confirm that it was plugged into the car's power supply via the OBD connector before connecting to an external power source and continued to work after the car…

Works well but doesn't need instructions.

Blown fuse in my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek when connected to OBDII. I looked it up in online chats and many others had the same problem. WILL NOT WORK WITH SUBARU. May work with other brands. Updated 11/11/2019. I looked into that a little more closely. You must not allow any light or radio to come on or any electrical voltage of any kind to be present when connecting to the vehicle through the OBDII connector. From what I've read this will inevitably blow the fuse. With that in mind I have two…

Well designed memory saver

5 stars even though no memory was saved. However, the internal electronics of my car were damaged. First, a jumper cable of at least 10 feet is almost essential if you plan on using a second car as a donor. If you have 2 cars in a 2 car garage this is the perfect spot. The cable has just been routed from the target vehicle's OBD2 port to the donor vehicle's 12V (cigarette lighter) plug. A starter replacement has just been completed on the target vehicle, a 2000 Buick Regal (3800 engine). I was…
