Affordable, very light and the perfect travel lens if you don't like long shots but want something longer in your travel bag. I'm using an old Olympus 50-200mm lens, a fantastic lens and one of my absolute favorites. However, this is a large and heavy lens. So when my family is on vacation and I want to have a long focal length lens on hand, this 40-150mm lens does the job perfectly without taxing my gear while still delivering great image quality. I usually shoot from a wider angle so I don't…

DSLR lens failure rate

I bought this lens twice, neither of these here and maybe I should have bought it. If you can't find a really good deal on something at Adorama, don't buy from them, but if you do, make sure you buy your own extended warranty and don't make them up. However, once the lens was in use I got exceptional images, very sharp and clear and although I never looked into the pixels I didn't find any softness in the corners. Although in all of these cases I could be in a winning position for the lens. I…

Good travel zoom - the more I use it the more I like it.

Lightweight zoom kit that produces pretty good images. 80-300mm equivalent on a standard 35mm full-frame lens. Pros: Relatively cheap ($99), smooth focus and zoom controls. Fast focusing on bright scenes. Good contrast and color rendering. Sharp enough for many applications with decent bokeh at a low F. The more I use it, the more I'm pleasantly surprised by the images. Overall I think the optics are first class for a lens in this price range. Easy. Cons: Most of them are to be expected - slow…

Excellent value for money lens

M Zuiko 40-150mm f/4-5.6 say the most reputable online reviewers: a very light and small mid-length zoom lens that offers remarkable performance at an incredible price price. The lens is plastic, but handling feels like a thin construction with tight tolerances and no play. Both rings work quite smoothly, there is no zoom. Focusing with the EM5II is quiet, fast and safe, even indoors (with static subjects). I tested its optical performance on a very detailed object - one of my wife's jewelry…

This is a five star item even though it is a cheap plastic case

Ok how do I put it? This lens gets five stars, but only if it retails for $99. It's all plastic, doesn't have a very smooth zoom, and one I tested had a little rattling. The lens also doesn't have the special optical coating of its more expensive cousins, one of which costs over four times as much (see ) and the other, an Olympus Zuiko edition (which costs over ten times as much: see The PRO Olympus M.ZUIKO 40 -150mm f/2.8 interchangeable lens for Olympus/Panasonic Micro 4/3 cameras) and has a…
