Bought to replace a previous unit (Antop DTV antenna no longer available) that failed to survive a fall during a hurricane. This unit is cheaper, uses only one clamp with two mast nuts, works a little better but only one technician likes the look. The mast stands alone, is about 12 feet tall and has a direct line of sight to the antenna truss 14 miles above the plane, with the obvious problem being the large metal structures nearby, which do not appear to interfere with this mast.

With the antenna pointed in the general direction that most TV towers in my area are, this antenna works great and I get many more channels than if I just use one of the indoor flat antennas use. I decided to caulk the perimeter of the antenna's plastic case at the seam as well as where the antenna's metal pins enter the plastic case. I figured it would damage everything and prevent water from entering the case.

This solved all my antenna problems. I tried several antennas in the same price range but this was the only one that could find every channel in my area. And that's in a closet where there's no window and out of sight. My broadcast networks are north, west, and south of me, so my situation was intended for a shorter-range, omni-directional setup rather than longer-range linear antennas. If you have signal problems, I recommend using an amplifier closer to the antenna. Use a very short coax line
