Inconvenient lock

Many years ago I bought a bike lock with this company's code, it worked very well, so I expected the same from this lock. However, I found that it is not possible to set the lock code. The whole mechanism was very tight and I couldn't turn the wheels to set the code. The instructions weren't clear either. I do not recommend this lock.

Pros
  • Cable locks
Cons
  • Some problems

Cheaper than previous versions of the same lock

I have 3 previous versions of the same lock. Everything has been working great for years. The one I bought in October 2020 is made cheaper. More specifically, the lock cylinder is cheap. The numbers don't turn easily and it's impossible to change the combination from the original because the cylinder mechanism inside is so cheap if not rotated to change the combination. Do not buy.

Pros
  • Sports and outdoor activities
Cons
  • Functionality

Great bike cable lock

The Onguard 12mm cable lock is a very reasonable compromise between security, convenience and price for most people/cities (but not for bikes which shouldn't be left outside anyway ;-) Rolling rotate easily. Contrary to what has been reported, you cannot find a number by trying to "catch" it. I don't think it can be cut with regular bolt cutters (you'll need to use a power tool). Unlike U-locks, it can be tied not only to posts, but also to lampposts, trees, etc.

Pros
  • Accessory
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Cable lock bracket problem

Lock works fine as described. However, the locking cable moves after it is attached to the mount. The insertion assembly on the cable rotates slightly after it is inserted into the bracket. I've found that the lock cable shifts and hits my leg when I hit small bumps in the road. You can reattach it, and I've found that the tighter I wrap the cable, the better it stays in place. Maybe I have a broken knot on the lock cable. Mine turns a quarter turn on the cable. Do you want them to move?

Pros
  • Sport
Cons
  • Good but not great
