Satisfied with the overall result

I have owned photos, negatives and slides for 30 years, mostly in albums that have slowly decayed (have you looked at yours recently?). After asking about scanning at the photo store (cost: many dollars per slide! oops!), I decided to scan them myself. Right now I probably have close to a thousand slides in the works. I have an OpticFilm Plustek 7500i with SilverFast SE plus software. Although it was quite expensive, it's still cheaper than in the store. Here are my experiences so far: - I…

Frustrated with document scanner

I have several thousand 35mm slides to digitize and after reading the reviews I settled on the Plustek 7500I Se. One of the main reasons for the decision was that this device takes up less desk space than a flatbed scanner. Received the device and started the installation on the Win 7 Ultimate machine. After two frustrated days and several downloads of a new driver from the Plustek website I gave up on a Win 7 machine. Fairly easy to install on a Vista machine but after scanning 7 slides I got…

The right scanner for old Kodachrome slides.

Looking through the various scanners available from Revain I settled on the Plustek 7300 which seemed to be what I needed. Unfortunately, after purchase I found that the Infrared Scratch and Dust Remover (ISRD) did not work on the 7300, even though Silverfast's software included this feature. After speaking to the techs at Plustek and Silverfast, I asked Revain if I could return it and order a 7500I. As usual, Revain was very helpful and agreed to pick up 7300. Thank you Revain! Now 7500i. As I

Great scanner great price

I recently bought a Plustek 7500i SE after reading rave reviews of the 7200. The purchase did not disappoint me. Installation was quick and easy, and the software that came with it works great on Vista. Although the scanner's resolution is 7200 dpi, I didn't need to go that far as 3600 dpi was more than enough to produce excellent quality scans. The color reproduction and detail fidelity of the scans was very good, as was the noise reduction. Dust and Scratch Removal The iSRD works very well…

Hey it works What I wanted

Our photos are kept in boxes on top of the cabinet. The chances of ever seeing her again are pretty slim. I often work with iPhoto on our Mac and use Photoshop to create collages from family outings. I will also create and play a slideshow of the selected photos. But what about all the old photos and memories (I mean before 2000)? This scanner just works and is worth what it does. Ease of use is pretty good. It's fast enough. The software is fine. My goal is to import the best old negatives and
